Technical Requirements for Event Budget Planning

What you actually need to run luntharivelo's platform smoothly

Look, we get it. Tech specs can be boring. But knowing whether your current setup works with our event budget planning tools can save you hours of frustration. We've built this page to answer the questions people actually ask when they're about to start a new project — not the ones we think they should ask.

Finding Your Answer

We've organized this based on what people usually want to know first. Jump to what matters for your situation, or read through if you're planning ahead.

Can I use it offline sometimes?

Your Device Compatibility

Most people checking this page are worried about whether their laptop from 2019 will handle the platform. Short answer: probably yes. We've designed luntharivelo to work on hardware that reflects what Australian small businesses actually use.

The platform runs in your web browser, which means you're not installing heavy software. If you can comfortably browse news websites and check your email, you're already in good shape.

Desktop Computers Windows 10 or newer, macOS 10.14 or newer, or recent Linux distributions. At least 4GB RAM for smooth performance.
Laptops Same as desktop requirements. Battery usage is moderate — expect normal browsing consumption.
Tablets iPads from 2018 onwards work well. Android tablets with at least 3GB RAM and Android 9 or newer.
Smartphones Full functionality on iPhone 8 and newer. Android phones from 2019 onwards with decent screen size (5.5" minimum recommended).
Real-World Testing Notes
  • We tested extensively on a 2018 MacBook Air and a 2020 Dell laptop — both handled budget planning for events with 200+ line items without lag
  • Older iPads can feel slightly slow when switching between multiple budget sheets, but everything still functions
  • Screen size matters more than processing power for comfortable use — anything under 13" for laptops or 10" for tablets gets cramped when working with detailed budgets

Browser Requirements

This is where things get simple. You don't need the absolute latest browser version, but you do need something from the past two years. Most browsers auto-update anyway, so this rarely becomes an issue.

We optimized for Chrome and Safari since that's what most of our Australian clients use. Firefox works great too. Edge (the new Chromium-based one) performs identically to Chrome.

Chrome Version 90 or newer (released April 2021). Best overall performance for complex budget calculations.
Safari Version 14 or newer (September 2020). Excellent on Mac and iOS devices with smooth touch interactions.
Firefox Version 88 or newer (April 2021). Solid performance with privacy-focused features maintained.
Edge Version 90 or newer (April 2021). Performs identically to Chrome with Windows integration benefits.

I switch between Safari on my Mac and Chrome on my work PC. The platform feels identical on both, which makes jumping between devices during event prep much less annoying than other tools I've tried.

Most of my team uses whatever browser came with their device. Nobody's had compatibility issues yet, and we're managing budgets for quarterly conferences with hundreds of expense categories.

Internet Connection Needs

Here's something people often overestimate — you don't need blazing fast internet. The platform works fine on what most Australians already have at home or in their office.

We've tested on NBN connections across different speed tiers. Even the basic 25/5 Mbps plans handle everything smoothly. The interface loads quickly because we don't use unnecessary graphics or video that bog down slower connections.

Minimum Speed 3 Mbps download, 1 Mbps upload. Basic ADSL connections work, though initial page loads take a few extra seconds.
Recommended Speed 10 Mbps download, 2 Mbps upload. Standard NBN 25 plans or better. Smooth experience with instant updates.
Mobile Data Works on 4G without issues. Uses approximately 2-3MB per hour of active budget work. 5G is overkill but obviously functions well.
Team Collaboration Multiple users editing simultaneously need at least 5 Mbps per person for real-time sync to feel instant.
Connection Scenarios We've Tested
  • Rural Victorian office with patchy ADSL — budget updates took 2-3 seconds instead of instant, but everything worked reliably
  • Sydney CBD office with 100 Mbps fibre — no perceptible difference from slower connections for day-to-day budget management
  • Mobile hotspot during outdoor event setup in Canberra — worked perfectly on 4G for budget adjustments and vendor payment tracking
  • Shared office WiFi with 15 people on the network — occasional slight delays during peak afternoon usage but nothing that disrupted work flow

Software and Additional Tools

One of the most common questions we get: "Do I need to install anything special?" The answer is no. luntharivelo runs entirely in your browser. No downloads, no plugins, no special extensions.

That said, there are a few optional integrations that some clients find helpful. All of these are completely optional — the core platform functions independently.

Optional Integrations: If you use accounting software like Xero or MYOB, we can connect to those systems. This requires their API access, which most business-tier subscriptions include. The integration setup takes about 15 minutes and we provide step-by-step guidance.

Calendar Sync: Some clients like syncing budget milestones with Google Calendar or Outlook. This uses standard calendar protocols (CalDAV/iCal) that work with any modern calendar application.

PDF Generation: Built into the platform. When you export budget reports or proposals, we generate these server-side, so you don't need Adobe or other PDF software installed locally.

Offline Access and Data Handling

This comes up a lot with event planners who work on-site at venues. Can you access your budgets without internet? Sort of. We cache recently viewed budgets locally, so you can review and take notes even when offline. But making changes requires a connection to sync updates across your team.

Think of it like Google Docs — you can view documents offline, but editing and saving changes needs connectivity. We've designed this intentionally to prevent conflicts when multiple people work on the same budget simultaneously.

Offline Capability Breakdown
  • View budgets you've opened in the past 7 days — full detail available without connection
  • Export PDF copies before heading to venue sites with spotty coverage
  • Make notes in your device's note app and update budgets once reconnected
  • Changes sync automatically within 5 seconds of regaining internet access
  • Conflict resolution alerts if multiple team members edited the same line item while someone was offline

Data Security: Your budget information encrypts during transmission and at rest on our Australian-based servers. We're compliant with Australian Privacy Principles and undergo annual security audits. Two-factor authentication is available and recommended for accounts handling sensitive financial data.

Backup and Recovery: Automatic backups run every hour. If something goes wrong, we can restore your budget data to any point in the past 90 days. Most clients never need this, but it's reassuring to know it exists.

Ready to Test Your Setup?

The best way to verify compatibility is trying the platform with your actual devices and connection. We offer a hands-on demo where you can work with sample event budgets using your own equipment.
